THE AREA
Staunton on Arrow village has retained its rural charm and peaceful footpaths. Situated on the River Arrow which meanders through the countryside, with its weir accessible less than a mile away. Wapley Forest has beautiful views of the surrounding hills and The Mound situated next to the church gives superb views of the Black Mountains.
Discover the Black and White Village Trail of Herefordshire. The trail, as the name suggests, is characterised by the large number of timbered and half-timbered houses, some dating from medieval times, others built more recently. ‘Unrivalled in England’ is how Alec Clifton-Taylor (OBE) described the half-timbered ‘black and white’ buildings of North West Herefordshire. Come and see if he was right! The Black and White Village Trail is a motor/cycle route through some of the prettiest villages and most beautiful landscape in England. The 40 mile circular trail leads west from the ancient town of Leominster, through a rich landscape of orchards, hop-yards and distant hills, taking in the most picturesque black and white villages.
The local market towns of Ludlow and Hereford provide the opportunity to shop and relax by the river and have excellent facilities. Hereford Cathedral is home to the Mappa Mundi & Chained library. A walk through Ludlow’s main streets and quiet lanes is to experience over 900 years of history. In a dominant and imposing position high above the River Teme, Ludlow Castle is one of the most interesting castles in the Marches.
Immerse yourself in this beautiful, peaceful area of the country and make Staunton on Arrow your base for a lovely holiday full of memories.
